✅ Fact: Waiting for too long can result in worsening of the deformities as well as muscle wasting. These can hamper full results after operation. Secondly, patients have to unnecessarily endure pain and disability till the time they actually undergo the procedure leading to loss of productive time.
❌ Myth 3: Knee replacement is very risky
✅ Fact: With advancement in modern medicine, anaesthesia and rehab procedures, Knee Replacement has become very safe and have predictable results.

❌ Myth 4: The artificial knee will not last long
✅ Fact: Advanced design and manufacturing have made possible for the implants to last 25-30 years or even beyond.
❌ Myth 5: You won’t be able to walk normally again
✅ Fact: Actually it is the other way round. Patients requiring Knee Replacement will not be able to walk normally without operation and gradually their condition worsens. However, after the procedure, they regain their movement and function and can lead an active life.

✅ Fact: Rehab is essential for good results. Without exercises, stiffness and poor outcomes can occur. Dr Firoz Ahmed usually prescribes a set 0f 4-5 simple exercises which the patient can easily do at home.

✅ Fact: You can sit, bend, and perform most daily activities. Deep squatting or sitting cross-legged may be limited.
❌ Myth 10: Surgery is the only solution for knee pain
✅ Fact: Knee replacement is done only when non-surgical treatments like medications, injections, physiotherapy etc fail. Dr Firoz Ahmed believes that surgery should be done as the last resort and all other therapies should be given due chance in all patients.
